New York trip - 2012

Before too much time passes.... I'll throw in the photos of our recent trip to NYC.

I had the chance to grab a few nights visiting my friend, Cindy, who lives on Long Island. I only took the older two girls.

Each photo has a caption on it, so most don't need explanation.

Overwhelmed? I was... I had 150 plus photos... whittled down to 100 plus for Facebook... whittled down to 36 here.

With hurricane Sandy looming the ocean, I could see the writing on the wall... if we didn't get out, we'd be stuck for a while. I was able to change out flight out from Monday to Sunday morning.

Very bumpy, flight (especially over North Carolina) and it was delayed by two hours, but we were on the jet!!! (which is ALL that mattered to me at the time)

More Halloween photos.

This is the neighborhood gang... Plus or minus one.
From left to right.... Jessica (hello kitty), Olivia (referee), Mia (mister high), Paige (USA cheerleader), Meredith ( panther cheerleader), Wade (football player) and Hannah (ballerina)
Still learning how to post from multiple devices so now... I'm on the iPad.

These are the shots we took before raiding the neighborhood.

This shot (above) is one of the outtakes to our 'official' photo. Just to show how Paige is our little photo-bomber!

Honestly, I could dedicate a whole page to her photo outtakes.

She's what makes our world turn.

Our only individual pic of any kid this year. Usually, I'm pretty good about photos but this year seemed more hurried.

Meredith... Always so photogenic.

Halloween 2012

I have SO many photos to post (stories to tell), but in my attempt to catch up the last 3 years, I don't want to let any of the current stuff slip by... so I'm throwing in our Halloween photos from this year.

Each year, AFTER on November 1st, I wish that I had had the forethought to plan a family theme for us to go trick-or-treating. This year, I finally did it.

So, behold... the DAVIS group in our only (decent) shot together. I think that that theme is obvious, but the best, best, best part of this set of costumes is that they all came out of our (or a friend's) closet.

Olivia was the referee (you can't see her shorts but she somehow made the whole thing a little too sexy for a 12 year old, in my opinion)

Meredith is the Panther Cheerleader. (poor kid asks every year to be a cheerleader... this is all she gets)

Wade is the football player.(the borrowed helmet was too small for his head, but I didn't want to cover his handsomeness anyway, right?)

Paige.... well, she cheers on the whole country. LOL.

The T-shirts for me and Bryan were made by me about an hour before we went hunting for candy. (the ps of those shirts is that the iron on letters didn't wash as well as I liked. They will never look this perfect again. Oh. well... lesson learned, right?)

Fast forward to 2012....

It has been such a long time since I checked in with this blog. The addition of Facebook in our lives stole my attention. I'm hoping that this time around I'll keep it up. So much fun it was to retread old posts!

So much has happened in 3 years since I've posted. More on all that later but for now.... I'll catch you up on the family.

Davis clan 2012
Davis clan. 2012. On our way to Daytona Beach for the first leg of a road trip that took us up to northern Georgia. The front of our house is still behind the truck.

First.... Olivia. She is 12 now. She's bigger than me in every way. Heading into 7th grade she was bumped up to all advanced classes for this upcoming year. Good kid... Typical pre-teen eye rolling that comes with a get-with-times-Mom look. (drives me crazy when she does that) I'll give her props for being fantastic with helping out with the younger ones.

Meredith is 10. Despite the daily struggles with school, she pulled off all B's on her last report card -a feat I thought I'd never see. Her braces went on at the beginning of summer because the gap between her front teeth wasn't closing on its own (but it has closed in less than 10 weeks with a little help). She is my resident blonde and the embodiment of very blonde joke I can think of... Which makes her amazingly fun to live with.

Our only son, Wade is getting ready to turn 7. His never-ending curiosity makes him quite the talker (wonder who he gets THAT from?). In spite of being surrounded by females, he is ALL boy. His love of wrestling, boxing, and pretty much any sport is hard for me to follow but I guess boys will be boys)

Lastly, here's Paige. She is the tiniest one... Still wears a 2-3t in clothes even though she is 4 years old. As much as Wade is all boy, Paige is all girly-girl. That butterfly blanket is always wrapped around her for sleep. She is developing an attitude sooner than the older ones, but I'd wager that is because she sees all of them.

The 6 of us on vacation this summer.
I'm hoping that everyone is safe and healthy. Our clan is good.

Search for sanity

I have a firm belief that we, as mothers, need to learn how to cope with life's daily troubles - together.

Any marriage (or relationship), no matter how strong it seems to be, can survive the daily on-goings after children are entered into the picture.

I just had baby #4.

My kids are 8, 6, 2 and 4 weeks - to say that life is chaotic in our home is an understatement; but without the constant movement, I'd be lost.

I'm starting this new blog as a means of venting about raising children, dealing with husbands, dealing with in-laws and my own family... not to mention the daily stuff I could write about our financial woes.

I write this knowing that it may be just my eyes that read it - I write it only for myself.

My own search for sanity.....

Other than a bigger belly - nothing new to tell.

Has it really been a month since I posted last?

Wow - well, Christmas season is here - full swing getting ready.

I haven't been to the doctor yet - they cancelled my December appt - and won't go now until sometime in January.

All of which is fine with me - I'm sure they will be wanting me to take that Glucose Tolerance Test, which I don't want to do... so I'm glad for the delay.

Baby moves around alot - getting bigger for sure.

Still don't have a name.

We are close - thinking about Sloane Elizabeth - but everyone hates it.

Everyone being the Grandparents!!!

It is an unusual name, but I like it - cute for a child, unique for a teenager and great for a professional name.

We stll have time to think about it.
